Patchy Facial Hair? Here’s How To Fill It Out With Confidence

Patchy Facial Hair? Here’s How To Fill It Out With Confidence

Do you have uneven beard growth? Do you have patchy facial hair? Most people do, don’t worry there are some ways around it. As you may already know, beard growth is down to genetics. Dealing with hand you’re dealt. When starting out on your beard journey, you will notice uneven beard growth and patches appearing, almost certainly everyone will. I haven’t yet met a person who has the ‘perfect’ beard. I have spoke to men who get to the 1 month stage of growth, notice patches with little growth, decide that’s the cards they’ve been dealt then shave it off. That is then engrained in their mind, thinking they can never grow a beard. I’d recommend aiming for 3 months of growth before making a decision, let that hair get to 2-3 inches. You will be able to get a better gauge on things. The length of hair may fill in any patches, you can comb it to suit. I have bald patches on my chin from bouncing my chin off pavements several times as a kid skateboarding, you wouldn’t know it now though. Just let it grow. Healthy lifestyle, healthy beard. Now that you have got over that hurdle, it’s time to start caring for your new found love. You’ll want to take care of the facial hair and skin below, if you don’t, dirt and grease may clog the follicles, preventing hair growth, leading to patchy facial hair, which is exactly the opposite of what you are trying to achieve. A good natural beard oil will help to start off with, a selection can be found here....
Here’s Why You Need A Boar Bristle Beard Hair Brush

Here’s Why You Need A Boar Bristle Beard Hair Brush

Choosing a beard brush may seem like an easy task, right? You may be using your significant other’s hair brush? One of our athletes, before joining Braw Beard, was even using his cat’s brush!! I won’t say who… Yes, an ordinary plastic brush will do ok, but it won’t perform as well as a boar bristle beard hair brush. There are certain aspects you will want to consider; 1. The handle material. 2. The bristles. 3. Bristle stiffness. 4. The handle shape. 5. The size. 1. The Handle Material Many brushes that can be bought off the shelf for much cheapness are exactly that, cheap. Made from plastic, from a mould that will probably have ragged edges that will catch your facial hair. This will potentially damage your beard. We prefer natural products, like wood. Bamboo being one of the favourites for a beard brush. Bamboo is our preferred material, it’s smooth, natural, it has very unique patterns and absorbs a little amount of beard oil. This helps the beard brush glide through the beard and it takes on some of the scent from the oil, what’s not to like? 2. The Bristles There are natural and synthetic options available, much like the handle options. But, the bristles of choice on a beard brush are boar bristle. Again, we like to go with the natural option. Boar bristles distribute beard oil/beard balm evenly and leave it feeling soft and fuller looking. We chose to give our beard brush contoured bristles to match the shape of your face when brushing. 3. Bristle Stiffness Believe it or not, there are different grades of...
Unsure How To Use Beard Oil Properly?

Unsure How To Use Beard Oil Properly?

One question we get asked regularly is how often to apply beard oil without overdoing it. Beard oil is a leave-in beard conditioner that should be used regularly to keep your facial hair soft, hydrated and looking attractive. The natural ingredients moisturise the skin at the hair root, which will keep the dreaded beard dandruff away while soothing itchiness and irritation. So, how often should you apply beard oil without overdoing it? The answer varies from person to person because everyone is different. Too little will leave your beard feeling a little dry, too much will feel greasy. BUT, I will explain the best guidelines, then you can adapt slightly to suit your own needs. First things first. Use Braw Beard Wash first to ensure your facial hair is clean and give the beard oil the best foundations to work with. Once your beard has been towel dried, now you are ready to apply Braw Beard oil. How often to apply beard oil without overdoing it To start off with I recommend dispensing a few drops (around the size of a 5 pence piece) into the palm of your hand. That is a good amount for most sizes of beards. Beard oil is not water based so does not evaporate, it does get absorbed by the skin and hair though. For that reason you do not want to apply too much because that will leave pores blocked, skin greasy and the perfect ground for spots to appear. The best bet is to start of small and add more if needed. For stubble to 1cm in length If you are just...
