Benefits of Beard Oil and How to Apply It
READ TIME: 3 MINUTES. Growing a beard can be a personal journey, and I've had my fair share of ups and downs. From the itchy beginnings to being proud of that luscious facial mane, every phase has taught me something.
One of the game-changers in my beard journey? Beard oil.
Here’s a deep dive into its benefits and a step-by-step guide on how I use it.
Why I Started Using Beard Oil
My journey started differently from many others. I started making hair oil for my wife using natural oils from a sports therapy course I was studying. The ingredients from the hair oil were tweaked to create the first bottle of Braw Beard oil for personal use. Ever since using my first bottle, I haven't looked back since.
The Top Benefits of Beard Oil
1. Hydration Heaven:
Before beard oil, the skin underneath my beard was often dry and flaky. My skin felt moisturised with consistent use, and I said goodbye to the dreaded beardruff (beard dandruff).
2. Say No to Itchiness:Itchiness can be a real challenge, especially in the early stages of beard growth. Beard oil provides relief by softening the hair and moisturising the skin.
3. Taming the Beast:Unruly beard hairs were my nemesis, especially after days on my bike. With just a few drops of beard oil, my beard appeared more groomed and less like I’d been lost in the woods.
4. Natural Essence:I love that all Braw Beard oils are made with natural essential oils. They provide benefits for the skin and hair, and the scents can be invigorating, calming, or downright seductive!
5. Healthier Beard Growth:Regular use made my beard hair stronger and healthier, providing a natural shine without looking greasy.
Applying Beard Oil: My Method
Applying beard oil isn’t rocket science, but a little technique goes a long way. Here’s my routine:
1. Timing is Everything:The best time to apply beard oil is right after a shower. The warm water opens up the pores, and the beard is clean, making it easier for the oil to work its magic.
2. Dry Your Beard:While a damp beard is excellent, you don’t want it dripping wet. I gently pat my beard dry with a towel.
3. Pour & Prep:Depending on my beard length, I take 6-8 drops (use 3-6 drops to start; I have a long beard) of oil on my palm. (A little goes a long way!) I rub my hands together to spread the oil evenly.
4. Application:Starting from the roots, I work the oil into my skin, then outwards through the beard. I massage it well, ensuring every hair gets some love.
5. Comb it Out:I use a beard comb post-application to detangle the hair, the oil helps the comb glide through the hair effortlessly. Then, I use a beard brush for an even distribution of beard oil and to shape my beard. It also helps in training the beard to grow in a specific direction.
6. Admire the Work:Lastly, I take a moment to admire my beard in the mirror, embrace the journey, confidence is everything, and enjoy the fragrance and feel of the oil.
In Conclusion
Beard oil has transformed my beard game. It's not just about aesthetics but also about keeping my facial hair and skin healthy. Please give it a go for those contemplating whether to jump on the Brawtherhood movement! Your beard will thank you, and you might feel more confident with each drop.

I started my beard journey around January/February (mostly had stubble or vert short beard) but I’ve decided to take the plunge and grow it out, I didn’t know much about beard products and used a commercial brand but somehow stumbled upon Brawbeard products and I haven’t looked back, I intend to continue using them on my journey, thanks JJ, they’re a game changer.
