Summer is coming! It’ll be a Braw one | Braw Beard
Summer is almost here, it’s been roasting here in Scotland recently!
How many times have you been asked, “aren’t you not too hot with that beard”?
Yep, loads, we know from experience.
Some beardies choose to trim their facial hair back a little but I’ll be honest, I’ve never had an issue with heat from my beard in the summer.
With the summer heat comes sweat, so remember to keep your beard clean (as well as the rest of your body).
Dirt and grim gathered with sweat can prevent hair from growing properly, so make sure you use a natural beard wash to keep it clean after a day of sweating.
Using a boar bristle brush will help exfoliate the skin below the beard too, keeping the surface clean and healthy.
Favourite beard oil for summer
When the weather is warm, I personally like to use a refreshing beard oil. My choices for this year are;
Arctic Explorer 1813 is a minty fresh fragrance, scented with;
Ylang ylang – has an exotic, sweet smell. This oil is especially useful for combating scalp dryness due to insufficient sebum production in the skin glands. This often leaves the hair thin and brittle, leading to a drastic reduction in hair volume. It has a stimulating effect on the scalp which promotes more luxurious hair growth.
Peppermint – has a fresh, sharp, menthol smell. When applied on the skin, it improves blood flow to the area. This property is very useful for rejuvenating hair follicles and promoting hair growth. Its cleansing action opens up clogged pores and encourages normal flow of skin oils, making it ideal for people with dry scalp. It also helps control dandruff associated with dry skin.
Cypress – has a woody, slightly spicy and refreshing masculine smell. Cypress essential oil can increase blood circulation and capillary strength which stimulates hair follicles for optimal hair growth.
Heather is a sweet fragrance, scented with;
Ylang ylang – has an exotic, sweet smell. This oil is especially useful for combating scalp dryness due to insufficient sebum production in the skin glands. This often leaves the hair thin and brittle, leading to a drastic reduction in hair volume. It has a stimulating effect on the scalp which promotes more luxurious hair growth.
Sandalwood – has a woody, exotic smell. Sandalwood essential oil softens skin by increasing its ability to retain moisture. It will help get rid of flakes and hydrate dry skin, thereby making it look plump and healthy.
Lover is also a sweet fragrance, scented with;
Lavender – has a light fresh aroma. It is mild and soothing, and can be used for any type of hair. It can improve blood circulation, promote hair growth, and prevent hair loss.
Rose Geranium – It has a sweet and rosy smell with a mint overtone. Geranium is the perfect solution for both dry and oily hair. It can balance the oil in our scalp and hair so that our hair strands are vitalised and look healthy. Rose Geranium can promote hair growth by nourishing and toning our scalp.
That’s the beard sorted for summer.
What about hats, sunglasses, t-shirts? We have those too.
In 2013, we introduced a line of streetwear to the line-up, starting with t-shirts, then hats. From that stemmed a long line of clothing and merchandise that is represented worldwide.
I still get excited when I see someone walking down the street wearing Braw Beard gear. If I can, I will always go and introduce myself and thank them for their support, it’s humbling.
Staying fresh and creative is always at the front of my mind with Braw Beard, on that note…
Introducing new hats for 2018…
NEW cotton snapback is available HERE
I have always liked light grey fabric snapbacks, they look class, the kind you could wear to any occasion, yeah I’d probably be that dick at a wedding wearing a snapback.
When designing one for Braw Beard, I wanted to keep it simple, black eyelets and a sewn patch on the front. The custom Braw Beard lining and label are there too.
NEW grey trucker cap is available HERE
Truckers have always been a favourite too, as you can tell from previous designs. Some with curved peaks and some flat peaks, we always enjoy the mesh style.
Again, with the new trucker it has been kept simple, gun metal grey all over, sewn patch on front and the usual custom branding inside.
Skateboard Sunglasses
In the summer of 2017, Braw Beard introduced a line of sunglasses to the lifestyle range, but as always, we like to be different.
We didn’t want the cheap plastic ones that many brands choose for much cheapness. We wanted quality and class.
Made from skateboard wood, the Braw Beard Skateboard Series sunglasses were born.
With polarised lenses, UV protection, a wooden case and a cleaning pouch, at £50 these are a steal.
The old faithfuls are still here too
T-shirts with several designs to choose from.
Summer is fast approaching, it will be a Braw one for sure.
If I see you wearing Braw Beard merchandise, expect me to stop for a blether.
Thank you for your support
