Intro to the Braw Mission
About Braw Beard
Braw Beard was never supposed to become a global beard care brand.
It started after a life-changing mountain bike accident in 2011.
I broke my back during a downhill race. Recovery forced me to slow down and rethink everything. During rehabilitation, I enrolled in sports therapy courses to better understand recovery and the human body. Part of that process involved studying natural oils and creating massage oil blends.
After passing the course, I made a hair oil for my girlfriend at the time who is now my wife. Then I tried it on my own beard.
The difference was immediate.
At the time, beard products impossible to find in Scotland. Most men either used nothing at all. So I kept experimenting, improving formulas and making small batches by hand.
Friends started asking for bottles. Then strangers did.
In October 2012, with around £300, Braw Beard was born.
No investors. No business background. No big launch plan.
Just belief, stubbornness and a determination to build something genuine.
Built From Scratch
What started on a kitchen table has grown into Scotland’s original beard care brand.
Over the years, Braw Beard has been featured in media outlets around the world, seen in magazines, TV features, podcasts, video games and international publications. Our products have been used by athletes, musicians, actors, tradesmen, bikers, barbers, office workers and everyday men who simply wanted to take pride in themselves again.
Even Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit became a fan at one point which still feels surreal.
But honestly?
The biggest achievement has never been celebrity recognition.
It’s the messages from customers saying:
“Your products helped my confidence.”
“I finally feel comfortable with my appearance.”
“This community helped me through a rough time.”
“I’ve made real friends through Braw Beard.”
That means more than any headline ever could.
More Than Beard Products
Braw Beard was built on the idea that growing a beard is more than appearance.
For many men, it represents confidence, patience, resilience, identity, self-respect and becoming comfortable in your own skin.
That’s why Braw Beard became more than just products.
It became a community.
The Brawtherhood was formed organically through customers sharing photos, stories, struggles, victories, road trips, gym progress, music, tattoos, motorcycles, adventures and life itself. Over time, complete strangers became genuine friends.
Some have travelled across countries just to attend our events.
That community spirit eventually led to the creation of The Braw Beard and Moustache Championships which is now one of the most unique beard events in the UK alongside The Braw Cast podcast, the Stroll Series videos, meetups, collaborations and countless unforgettable moments over the years.
The Mission
My goal was never to become the biggest beard company in the world.
The mission has always been simpler than that:
Create high quality products.
Treat customers properly.
Build something real.
Leave people better than you found them.
Every bottle is still developed with care, experience and intention. We focus on quality ingredients, practical performance and products that genuinely improve beard care routines rather than relying on gimmicks or hype.
Braw Beard is still independently owned and operated in Scotland to this day.
No fake “bro marketing.” No pretending to be something we’re not.
Just years of consistency, community, craftsmanship and the belief that authenticity still matters.
From Me To You
If you’ve supported Braw Beard over the years, thank you.
Whether you placed one order, attended an event, shared a video, listened to the podcast, wore the merch or simply followed the journey online... you helped build this.
Braw Beard exists because people believed in it.
And after all these years, that still means everything to me.
