Dirty beard? Do you work in a dusty environment?

Do you work in a dusty environment? Do you suffer from a constantly dirty beard? With some construction workers getting the go ahead to get back to work recently, we've had an influx of messages about beard care in dirty environments. We've had emails from gardeners, joiners, labourers etc. They all ask the same thing, "at work, how do I avoid a dirty beard and are there steps I should take to help?" You are going to get a dirty beard

If you work in a dusty environment, with cement, wood etc, you are going to get a dirty beard, there's no avoiding it (unless you wear a neck gaiter/snood). But there are steps you can take to ensure the best cleanliness as possible during your workday. Let me offer advice and explain the reasons below.

In the morning before work.

Wash your beard with water, give it a rinse with water only, then gently towel dry it. Don't use Braw Beard Wash here, save it for a wash when you get home, it will be more beneficial then. Once your beard is dry, apply some of your favourite Braw Beard oil to condition and moisturise your beard as normal. Comb or brush that through as normal too. If your beard is long, consider tying it down to make the surface area smaller than usual. A smaller surface area will catch less dust and dirt. I'd recommend against using beard balm or butter before working in a dusty environment. The wax element may cause dust to stick to your beard making it feel horrible. Braw Beard butter is a great moisturiser but we'll save that for later when you get home.

At work

Throughout your work day, your beard is going to hold onto some dirt and dust, just the same way your head hair, eyebrows and arm hair does, it happens. I've been there myself several times. What I do recommend is taking a bottle of beard oil and a brush to work with you (leave it in your locker, in a bag or wherever else you keep belongings at work). At lunchtime, gently brush your beard to get residual dirt out. Next apply a little beard oil and brush through again to evenly distribute the oil in your beard. This will moisturise you hair and skin below, keeping it clean and avoiding irritation later in the day. You may get funny looks but hey, don't we all?

At home afterwards to clean your dirty beard

Once you get home from working in a dusty environment, the first thing you will want to do is wash out that dirt. Now is the time of the day to use the Braw Beard Wash. Jump in the shower or bath and wash your beard thoroughly with Braw Beard Wash. It has aloe vera added and is made with organic ingredients. Which means it helps reduce dandruff while cleaning your beard effectively. Just what your beard needs after a tough day. Once you beard is towel dried, apply some of your favourite Braw Beard oil. It is non-greasy and has only natural ingredients, chosen for their beneficial properties. Which means it nourishes your facial hair from root to tip. Either use a comb or gently brush your beard to detangle the hair after washing. Now is the time of your day to apply Braw Beard Butter. It is made with natural ingredients, chosen for their beneficial properties. This product is deep conditioning, while gently holding stray hairs in place to maintain a neat looking beard. The perfect way to treat your beard and restore its faith in you. Lastly, brush through again. This will give the beard full oil and butter coverage, separating the hairs, offering maximum volume.
