Beard In The Wind, How To Deal With It | Braw Beard
Scotland is getting battered by high winds at the moment courtesy of storm Ali, we can't complain really after 8+ weeks of sun (that's usually 2 years worth in Scotland).
The problem with facial hair is how you deal with your beard in the wind!
It sounds trivial I know, but it can be both damaging for the hair and downright annoying when it's flapping up around your nose

What damage is done to your beard in the wind?
The harsh winds can strip the natural oils from your beard, leaving it dry and brittle. If left untreated it can lead to the hair snapping or splitting. You don't want that! Look after your beard in the wind, when you do decide to comb or brush your facial hair, do so slowly and be gentle! There will be snags or knots from flapping around in the wind. If you just comb frantically, you will tug the hair, possibly dislodging it from the follicle or snap it. My recommendation would be apply some beard oil first to help the comb/brush glide through the hair better. The Braw Beard oil will moisturise the hair and follicles too, rehydrating them to maintain their health. Braw Beard oil will provide extra nutrients to condition the hair and keep it nourished. If you work outdoors, it may be worth keeping a bottle of beard oil handy to top up your beard in the wind.
How do I deal with my beard in the wind?
When I am out in high winds, my beard used to end up tickling my eyes and forehead. But now, I just tie it down using a Braw Beard band. We have them in black or brown. The look isn't everyone's choice but it does the job. When my beard is tied down, the wind isn't pulling on it and putting the follicles under much stress. If it is, the surface area of force is larger, making life easier on the skin. In the morning, I still use the Braw Beard Wash, Braw Beard oil and comb/brush as normal to keep it conditioned and nourished. Then I tie it down. I ALWAYS wear hats, always have done, always will. But, the wind can be a nightmare for caps. All I do, is turn it backwards, if it's a snapback, tighten the strap up a little. If it's the new stretch fit cap, it's all good anyway.
